The outbreak occurred in Deurne, Noord-Brabant, and was one of the H5 strains.

Over 17,000 birds were destroyed to prevent the spread of the disease. Although low pathogenic strains do not cause deaths, infected flocks are often destroyed because it is thought that low pathogenic strains can develop into highly pathogenic strains within flocks.

A 1km restriction zone was established on 28 October. There are three other premises in the 1 km zone, and these premises have been screened.
