Hi everyone...
My girls have been laying now for around 2 and a half months. I have one girl laying larger and larger eggs daily.. every one larger than the last. Today's Egg is extremely large! one would assume a goose laid it! Large enough that I can't close the lid on the egg carton. WOW! She was formerly the runt and is now my largest bird. A black rock with no name, I think I'll call her BERTHA!! So to the question... Should I be worried? |

I have a hen that did that and i couldn't believe the size. Unfortunately if you read my post entitled more than just a prolapse you will read what happened to her. As this seems a very rare thing for mine it may just be cautious to look out for a prolapse. I am not saying it will happen as she may be absolutely fine but this is from experience. I sincerely hope she goes on to give you some great size eggs !!!!

I didn't weigh it...don't have the means too.. but it's huge!
I'm a large man.. 6ft4in and I cannot wrap my hand around it!! I'll just keep an eye on her.. maybe she was just feeling extra peppy for a few days... lol She's happy and enjoys all her treats.. so I'm not going to worry until something comes of it. I just wanted to share. |
