Default What do you put on your duckling brooder floor

Hi everyone, just wondering what you all use as flooring in your brooder cages? Our ducklings are about a week old now or should I say we brought them as day olds a week ago tomorrow, we have been putting news paper with kitchen towel over the top but our little blighters keep eating it , we swapped to plenty thinking that it might be stronger but they are still managing to eat some of it. Any suggestions? I'm worried that it could clog them up and kill them

I have always used magazine pages I guess they are a little tougher than news paper which goes to pieces when wet....and I am always a little suspicious of all the ink.
I did go through a phase of using disposable baby nappy changing pads or bed wetting disposable pads, I still do with a sick chicken in a box in the kitchen but it can become an expensive past time with super mucky chicks or ducklings.

Hi Kerry,
If you have some old towels that is always a good stand by. It does make for washing obviously but at least they are unable to eat it. They can not slip on them either.
We always used kitchen towel and then i swapped to towels and always look out for cheap ones in shops or just use old ones I already have and then an excuse to buy new ones lol.
Hope this helps a bit

Thanks Kerry,
Yes we are doing well actually. Our dog we have here is fine and doesn't seem to be missing Barley which is good. Given her some extra treats today as she is 2 years old.
Been out side with all the birds today.
when I went in to pay the vet I was better than I thought.
I am sure things will get better as she will never be forgotten and we have great memories and I was not going to let her suffer.
Good luck with the towels ..... hope the idea works !
Had Posh and becks out on the grass earlier and they loved it... bless.
