Avian Influenza Outbreaks in Chickens in Bangladesh
Paritosh K. Biswas and co-authors describe their study to determine the epidemiology of outbreaks of avian influenza A virus (sub-types H5N1, H9N2) in chickens in Bangladesh in 2007. They found that the outbreak began in backyard chickens, and that probable sources of infection included egg trays and vehicles from live bird markets. The report was published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
