Chlorinated Poultry Meat - Is Cure Better than Prevention?
AVEC, the Association of Poultry Processors and Poultry Trade in the EU Countries, has published its annual report for 2008, which includes a chapter outlining its view on the chlorination of poultry meat. Chlorinated water is used in some countries as a carcass rinse to remove pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella.

Hubbard Launches the Hubbard Yield
US - During the International Poultry Exhibition in Atlanta (28-30 January 2009) Hubbard will launch a new product for the broiler industry, the Hubbard Yield. The company says the new bird offers the optimum balance from breeder through to processing.
Pfizer to Acquire Wyeth, Creating the World's Premier Biopharmaceutical Company
US - Pfizer and Wyeth today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Pfizer will acquire Wyeth in a cash-and-stock transaction currently valued at $50.19 per share, or a total of approximately $68 billion. The Boards of Directors of both companies have approved the combination.
New Manufacturing Facility Open for Innovative Poultry Vaccine Technology
THE NETHERLANDS - Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health announces the opening of its new SPHEREON vaccine manufacturing facility in Boxmeer.
Cobb Europe Acquires Kabir Breeds
EU - Kabir International which specialises in coloured chickens for niche markets around the world has been acquired by Cobb Europe Ltd.
Microgen Formulation Kills Leptospira biflexa
GENERAL - Indo-American based Poultry disinfectant company Microgen, Inc., recently announced the release of their D-125, 2009 efficacy overview list, which declares 171 claims, including the Leptospira biflexa bacterium.
