New EU and US Lighting Programmes Compared
Dr Lien from Auburn University presented a paper at the International Poultry Scientific Forum (IPSF), which compared the effects of the current US and proposed EU lighting programmes on the performance of broilers and their carcass composition. Organic Poultry Production in the United States was published by ATTRA in 2008. It discusses organic husbandry including living conditions, health, genetics and origin, feed and processing as specified under the livestock requirements of the US Department of Agriculture National Organic Program (NOP).
Energy Value of Glycerin for Broilers
Dozier and colleagues in Mississippi conducted three experiments with broiler chicks and found the average apparent metabolisable energy content (AMEn) of glycerin was found to be 3,434 kcal per kg.
