The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore is investing more than Three (M) million dollars in a project it hopes will cut down on the rank aroma that chicken waste yields.

The idea is to put plastic flooring and a ventilation system in chicken house. The creators of the concept say that could cut the ammonia emmissions that bring the stink.

The emmissions produced when the wood chip- or peanut hull-covered floors become saturated can also sicken birds, so the project is not just about aethetics.
