Czech Poultry Prices Drop 9%

CZECH REPUBLIC - The Czech Statistical Office reports that the number of poultry on farms in the Czech Republic on June 30 this year was 23.3 million head, an increase of 1.4 per cent as compared with the number on the same date in 2005.

The number of hens was 1.1 per cent lower at 4.9 million.

The average producer price of highest quality chicken for slaughter in the first nine months of this year was CZK19.20 (USD0.86) per kilo liveweight, a year-on-year decrease of 9.0 per cent.
