Market analysis

AA broiler
Overall, inventories and supplies were low but demand had stayed firm. Improved hog prices also have a spill-over effect on broiler prices in most regions.

As prices had increased significantly in the past month, some broiler processors and traders were reluctant to accede to farmers' high asking prices. Prices were thus only marginally higher despite lower supplies in certain regions.

In Jiangsu province, farmers who were eager to lock in profits had put up more supplies for sale. Traders thus seized the opportunity to lower their prices for procuring supplies.

In Sichuan province, prices were lower on the back of increased supplies.

Prices were sharply higher in Guangdong and Guangxi as supplies were low amid increasing demand. Meanwhile, demand from buyers in other provinces had also increased with the colder weather, which helped to lift prices in southern China.

Market forecast

In view of the low inventory levels and the expected increase in demand with the arrival of year-end festivities, broiler prices are expected to make more gains in the near term.
