Hybro conference shares top level insights into the future of Thai export market

THAILAND - Dutch broiler breeding company Hybro B.V. invited leading Thai poultry producers to a special conference in Bangkok in November, to hear from the Dutch Ambassador and other senior officials from the EU and Brazil as they looked ahead to the changes and challenges that face the Thai poultry sector in the future, as well as joining Hybro to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.

The theme of the conference was ‘Dynamic and changing export market: challenges and opportunities’, with keynote presentations by several key speakers from the Thai, European and Brazilian poultry industry.

“We chose this theme to reflect the state of affairs and pressing realities in this globalised market,” explains conference organiser and Hybro’s area manager for the region, Mr. Vladimir Walk, “The export market continues to change and become increasingly more demanding, and our aim was to create a platform where industry players [in Thailand] could be well informed on new developments, and the issues that need consideration to prepare themselves for the future.”

Mr. Ir. Frans van Dongen, Director European Affairs, who talked about EU trends and policies, and their implications for the Thai broiler industry, said in his presentation that Thailand should look for additional export markets, as competition in Europe will become fiercer against a backdrop of stagnating growth in poultry meat consumption.

The Ambassor of the Royal Dutch Embassy Netherlands gave insights into Thai-EU trade relations through the years, and Hybro’s own Dr. Paulo Martins, in his role as member of the Poultry Improvement Plan Consult Committee in Brazil, outlined developments in the Brazilian broiler sector and how they have developed their competitive edge. Further presentations were given by Mr. Yukol Limlamthong, Director General of Department of Livestock Development, and Dr. Anan Sirimongkolkasem, President of the Thai broiler export association.

“We were very proud to have such well-known speakers from the industry join us for this important event – and equally delighted to receive such positive feedback from the attending delegates,” concluded Mr. Walk.

“With our long-established and growing presence in Asia’s leading broiler producing and export country, Hybro is keen to cement tremendous opportunities for partnership and growth in this very competitive and dynamic industry.

“We hope that through this extraordinary conference, we have shown once again how well Hybro is placed to become the preferred partner for the poultry sector in Asia.”
