Print This Page RSPCA revises its turkey welfare standards
UK - The RSPCA’s new revised Welfare Standards for Turkeys are set to be implemented on farm by 29 March.Key changes to the welfare standards include limiting the number of times that a bird can be subjected to the maximum stocking density of 25kg/sq m (2.3/sq ft) to just once in its lifetime.
The RSPCA has also prohibited beak trimming of turkeys reared in controlled environment housing and formulated more advice on enriching their environment.
