ALABAMA - State Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks says he is worried about chickens from China.A few years ago, Chinese chicken exports were halted after 14 people died of avian influenza. Now, the U.S. government is about to start allowing them back in this country, and Sparks says he will be monitoring that closely.
Sparks tells WSFA 12 news, "I am leery. I am leery of it. I have not come down to say that I'm totally against it because I realize that we live in a global world. We live in a global market. We have got beef we are trying to open up into their market and this may be a compromise, but if we're going to have a compromise let's make sure they live up to the agreement."
