Indian Poultry Farming Has Transformed Into 'Dynamic Agro Industry’

The various awards were presented to scientists for their excellent research in their fields. Prof PK Pani Research Award in poultry genetics and breeding for 2004 and 2005 was presented to Dr Santosh Haunshi, and Dr Sanjeev Kumar from Central Avian Research Institute, Izatagar (UP), and for 2006 to Suryakant Mishra, from Veterinary College Hyderabad. Ayurvet Research Award for Excellence in Avian Research for 2004 was presented to Deepak Sharma from Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar (UP). Kerala chapter IPSA award in Poultry Nutrition for 2004 and 2005 was presented to AK Panda and SV Rama Rao from Project Directorate on Poultry, Hyderabad.

On the occasion, Dr AL Chaudhary said that the world poultry industry has grown consistently since 1940s and broiler, chicken industry now occupies the second place in volume. “India ranks fourth in egg production and fifth in broiler production. The poultry farming in India has transformed from backyard venture into a dynamic agro industry over the last four decades,” he said.

Dr VK Taneja, vice-chancellor, GADVASU, said that it would not be an exaggeration to call the conference an India Poultry Congress being attended by such a large number of poultry scientists, industry personnel, farmers and students from all over India.
