Russia Bans Meat Imports From Kazakhstan

RUSSIA - has put off imports of livestock and meat products from Kazakhstan due to outbreaks of cattle disease in the central Asia country, the RIA Novosti news agency reported on Wednesday.

Kazakhstan has reported several foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in the country. The latest case reported on Monday put the number of affected livestock at 52 cattle in a village.

Russian's food safety watchdog has introduced a temporary ban on imports of livestock, meat products and feed stuff from Kazakhstan, RIA said, citing a statement from the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Inspection.
