Eggs in Incubators on May 1 Up 3 Percent from Last Year

Turkey eggs in incubators on May 1, 2007, in the United States totaled 32.5 million, up 3 percent from May 1, 2006. Eggs in incubators were up 3 percent from the April 1, 2007 total of 31.7 million eggs. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central down 8 percent, West North Central up 7 percent, North and South Atlantic up 5 percent, and South Central and West down 3 percent.

Poults Hatched During April Up 7 Percent from Last Year

Turkey poults hatched during April 2007, in the United States totaled 26.4 million, up 7 percent from April 2006. Poults hatched were down 2 percent from March 2007 total of 26.8 million poults. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 5 percent, West North Central up 13 percent, North and South Atlantic up 5 percent, and South Central and West up slightly.

Net Poults Placed During April Up 8 Percent from Last Year

The 26.1 million net poults placed during April 2007 in the United States were up 8 percent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were down 1 percent from the March 2007 total of 26.4 million.
