Family Triumph In New Polish Broiler Award

POLAND - The Dekert and Taszarek family is the first winner of the trophy for the best broiler flock in Poland awarded by Cobb Germany. Iliana Dekert and Anna Taszarek not only beat the breed target but also benefited from a lower cost diet with their flock of 124,000 Cobb 500 broilers on the farm at Gospodarstwo Rolne.

The birds reached an average 2.668 kg at 41 days of age, with a livability of 97.6 per cent and feed conversion of 1.74. To help combat high feed prices 20 per cent whole wheat was fed to the broilers, not only lowering production cost but ensuring prime health.

"Outstanding results have been achieved by fine tuning the feed, ventilation, lighting programmes, temperature and general management procedures,"

says Mr Truscott.

During the presentation by Cobb Germany director James Truscott, Maciej Taszarek expressed his gratitude for the support received from the company, especially from Ireneusz Rosada, technical manager for Poland.

He has worked alongside the broiler farmers inside the chicken house, and also exchanged data by e-mail to ensure the birds were managed in the correct way. "Outstanding results have been achieved by fine tuning the feed, ventilation, lighting programmes, temperature and general management procedures," says Mr Truscott.

Mr Taszarek is expanding his broiler farm and the newly built house is a credit to his attitude of listening to advice, adds Mr Truscott. "The family is reaping the rewards in terms of lowest production costs with Cobb broilers. I'm sure this farm will grow further and we very much wish the family all success for the future."
