Meat Institute Requests PreProposals

US - The American Meat Institute Foundation (AMIF) has released its 2007-2008 Request for Pre-Proposals. The topics covered in the request are based on AMIF’s research priorities as defined by the AMIF Research Advisory Committees. These committees are comprised of industry, academic and government officials.

AMIF is soliciting pre-proposals on controlling Listeria monocytogenes on ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products, Escherichia coli O157:H7 in fresh beef products and Salmonella in meat and poultry products.

AMIF is also soliciting pre-proposals for Targeted Research, which includes research needs identified by AMI member companies. These topics include improving epidemiological data on food attribution for listeriosis, a white paper on causes of human Salmonella illness from food and non-food sources and a survey of levels of residual nitrite in cured meat products and other dietary contributors, among others.
