US - Shell eggs broken up 4 percent from last year, report the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).Shell Eggs Broken Down 4 Percent from Last Year
Shell eggs broken totaled 156 million dozen during April 2007, down 4 percent from April a year ago, and 7 percent below the 168 million broken last month.
April 2007 contained 21 weekdays and 4 Saturdays. April 2006 contained 20 weekdays and 5 Saturdays.
During calendar year 2007 through April, shell eggs broken totaled 634 million dozen, down 4 percent from the comparable period in 2006. To date, cumulative total edible liquid from eggs broken in 2007 was 832 million pounds, down 3 percent from 2006.
