Print This Page Wendy's Pledges Support Of Humane Slaughter
DUBLIN - Wendy's International Inc., has pledged to give preferential buying support to its pork and chicken suppliers who improve humane animal welfare systems.The policy follows a switch made by Burger King this spring.Wendy's said it plans to increase its purchases of pork products from hogs not raised in restrictive gestation stalls from 10 percent to 20 percent by the end of 2008.
Wendy's also will give purchasing preference to approved poultry suppliers who use controlled atmosphere stunning systems that gas chickens to render them unconscious prior to slaughter.
