Bali Bans Poultry From Java After Bird Flu Death
INDONESIA - Authorities in the Indonesian resort island of Bali bans the entry of at least 10,000 chickens and ducks from the main island of Java over the past week after the death of a woman caused by bird flu, an officer said Monday.

The ban aims to prevent the spread of the deadly disease to wider areas, Bali police spokesman Senior Commissioner Reniban was quoted by the national Antara news agency as saying.
Reniban said the poultry was denied entry upon arrival at the Gilimanuk Seaport on the island.
Bali authorities have also ordered the culling of all poultry in two villages in Jembrana regency, where bird flu cases had been detected and killed a housemother last week, he said.
