Print This Page Poultry-Rearing Scheme Launched
INDIA - A new self-employment scheme titled ‘Poultry Rearing in Your Courtyard,’ offered jointly by the Department of Rural Development and the Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation, was launched here on Monday.As many as 40,000 women below poverty line in 50 blocks in the State would benefit from the scheme envisaged under the Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) programme of the Central Government.
The scheme targets production of 30 million eggs and 360 tonne chicken meat by forming 10-member self-help groups of women. The Rs.14.92-crore project aims at generating an income of Rs.80 million. Each beneficiary will get 20 chicks, a poultry cage, and 30 kg poultry fodder for six months. The beneficiaries will also get three days’ training.
