Print This Page Brazil's Perdigao In Merger Talks With Local Rival
SAO PAULO - Brazilian poultry and pork producer Perdigao SA and local rival Eleva Alimentos SA are in talks about a potential merger, the companies said late on Thursday."The market and shareholders will be notified of the ownership and operational structure as soon as they are determined, as will the terms and conditions of the deal," the companies said in a joint statement sent to Brazil's securities regulator.
Perdigao, the No. 2 poultry and pork producer in Brazil, previously held merger talks with its larger rival, Sadia. But the deal never materialized because Perdigao said it wanted to remain independent.
