The check was presented by Jay Daniels, director of operations for Hubbard LLC and a member of the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association board of directors.

In the past, donations from the Harold E. Ford Foundation have been used to produce recruitment materials, publications, and an interactive CD. The current donation will be used to help support projects that include a week-long Poultry Summer Institute to expose high school students to poultry-related career opportunities, a re-designed recruitment Web site, design and publication of promotional materials, development of presentations, student initiated “back home” recruiting trips to local high schools, and portable display units.

Funds from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Harold E. Ford Foundation support essential elements of the department’s undergraduate recruiting program. The Harold E. Ford Foundation was founded in 1994 and has disbursed more than $1,453,000 to poultry science departments and programs across the nation.
