Rush for Chicken Eggs on Kamchatka

The directorate of Kamchatka’s only commercial egg plant Pionerskaya said that the enterprise has not changed prices for its products since last year – 33-55 roubles per dozen depending on the category.

The Pionerskaya plant daily produces 152,000 eggs and the enterprise is working uninterruptedly. “It is unknown what has caused the rush,” the plant official said and called on the residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to buy eggs at the poultry farm’s own trade outlets.

Personnel of the trade pavilions that have sharply increased the prices for chicken eggs say that they have been forced to do this because of the lack of products that are brought to the peninsula from other regions.
