Print This Page Marfrig Takes Control of Two Poultry Companies
BRAZIL - Brazilian meat processor Marfrig has bought a controlling interest in DaGranja Agroindustrial and Pena Branca - the leading poultry company in the Sao Paulo district.Marfrig paid the equivalent of $58 million for DaGranja and $53 million for Pena Branca.
DaGranja is active in the slaughter of poultry and pigs with three poultry slaughterhouses - two in Minas Gerais and one in Parana with a capacity of 480 thousand birds a day. The company has an integrated production also running hatcheries, and breeding farms as well as slaughterhouses and processing plants.
Last year the company had a turnover of R$600 million (Reais).
Pena Branca, which was a target for the US poultry processing giant Tyson, has two poultry slaughter plants with a capacity of 300,000 birds a day.
The company had a turnover of R$330 million last year and employed 2,140 people.
