Print This Page Terrena Buys into Unicopa Poultry Capacity
Giant French agricultural co-operative Terrena is to acquire the bulk of Unicopa's fresh poultry processing capacity. The move is as part of a strategic agreement between the two co-operatives.
Terrena will become France's second-largest poultry producer as a result of the deal, behind the Doux group.
Working with Unicopa subsidiary Eolys, Terrena is also setting up a jointly-operated buying group for shared agricultural procurement needs.
Terrena president Hubert Garaud said: "At a time when society is asking us to reduce our use of sprays and fertilisers, we have to find credible alternatives to allow our farmers preserve the environment and remain competitive."
