Eggs Don't Hatch Heart Disease

UK - After a study involving 10,000 individuals researchers have come to the conclusion that there is no link between eating eggs and developing heart disease.

The Harvard School of Public Health conducted a research study of 10,000 individuals which found no link between egg consumption and developing heart disease in adults, reports from the Guardian.

The study showed eating an average of one egg per day has little effect on total blood cholesterol levels and doesn’t increase the risk of heart disease or stroke.

According to the Guardian, the research indicated, however, that excess saturated and transaturated fats have the greatest impact on blood cholesterol levels.

Sandy Schwenger, a registered dietitian, said the real culprits are these kinds of fats.

“We need to reinforce the need to get the message to individuals that one of the key things is saturated and trans fats,” she said Thursday in Charlottetown.
