On March 18, Turkey reported an outbreak of the deadly H5N1 virus to the World Organization for Animal Health, according to a statement from the MOA and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

All poultry products that left Turkey after the outbreak will be returned or destroyed, said the statement.

Turkish authorities reportedly culled about 1,000 chickens after detecting bird flu at a village in the northwestern province of Edirne.
