Print This Page Another Day Another Outbreak
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - Yesterday the South Korean government announced that a further six farms had been hit with bird flu outbreaks in the southwestern provinces.According to the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, "H5 type" of avian influenza was found at five poultry farms in Gimje of the North Jeolla Province where the first outbreak was reported this year. Gimje is about 262 km south of Seoul.
Meanwhile, the government confirmed another outbreak in Yeongam of South Jeolla Province, which is 384 km south of Seoul.
The number of farms infected by bird flue has increased to 10 this year.
