US - Cagles's Inc, an Atlanta-based chicken processor, is hoping that Americans will start to eat more chicken so that the company can get its expenses in line and improve financially.Cagle's employs roughly 770 people at its processing plant in Pine Mountain Valley, Ga., just north of Columbus in Harris County, is reducing production 4 percent immediately, reports Ledger Enquirer.
No layoffs are projected, the company said.
Costs for feeding the feathered poultry have gotten out of hand, pushing expenses in that area up more than 80 percent in the last two years, Cagle's said.
The birds primarily feast on corn and soybean meal to fatten them up for slaughter on the way to the market .
