Print This Page Indonesia Self Sufficient in Chicken and Eggs
INDONESIA - Indonesia has been self-sufficient in chicken meat and eggs for years but the domestic poultry industry is not making progress, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriyantono said."The country has been sufficiently meeting its own need for chicken meat and eggs for the past few years but poultry breeders should now orient their businesses to oversea destinations," the minister told at a seminar on poultry business at Hotel Lor here on Wednesday.
According to Antara News, he said that after the country had become self-sufficient in chicken meat and eggs, poultry breeders should orient their businesses to export markets, not just to local markets.
The minister admitted the spread of bird flu was a constraint in developing poultry businesses but he said a solution to the problem must be found.
