BARBADOS - Chicken farmers in Barbados are threatening to take their products off the market because of a dispute over prices. The Egg & Poultry Association of Barbados discussed the possibility of a block on chicken products when it met at the headquarters of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) last week.
The farmers say they might have to take the action because stores are refusing to pay a 15 per cent increase for whole chickens, without giblets, that had been agreed earlier.
As it now stands, chicken farmers are suffering "tremendous losses", and president of the association Wendell Clarke told Nation News, they are also reneging on their orders with the hatcheries.
