Wheat Purchase Ban Puts Heat on Pakistan Poultry
PAKISTAN - The wheat ban in Pakistan could have serious, negative implementations for the poultry industry if it remains for much longer.Wheat, the basic ingredient of poultry feed, has been out of reach to producers due to the ban on its purchase from farms and open market.
This was stated by the Chairman PIAF Mian Abuzar Shad after a meeting with a delegation of the poultry industry on Monday, reported The News. The Chairman PIAF said that the poultry meat is the cheapest source of protein in the country and this industry needs government facilitation.
Mian Abuzar Shad said that on the instigation of the smuggling mafia, the government is not providing wheat to the poultry industry nor is it allowing the poultry people to buy it from the open market. Instead, the administration is issuing a warning to them, stating that if any one from the poultry industry was found purchasing wheat from the open market, they would be put behind bars.
