Addressing a one-day seminar on the topic 'Make the Poultry Business More Profitable' held in collaboration with SMEDA and Livestock Department, he warned that if wheat was not provided to the poultry feed industry, the country would have to face dire consequences in the shape of meat shortage and financial loss to the industry.

According to The Pos, Mr Tariq urged the government and the private sector to encourage and upgrade poultry industry because this industry provides chicken meat and eggs at low prices.

He said that negligence on the part of the government would destroy the poultry industry worth millions of rupees. He appreciated the efforts made by SMEDA and Livestock Department to develop the poultry industry and he hoped that the problems faced by the industry would be solved.
