Two More Human Deaths from Bird Flu
INDONESIA - World Health Organization has received official reports of two more human fatalities from avian flu, bringing the total so far this year to 26.

The Ministry of Health of Indonesia has announced two new cases of human H5N1 avian influenza infection to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The cases are not linked epidemiologically, the report says.
The first is a 16-year-old female from South Jakarta, DKI Jakarta province who developed symptoms on 7 May. She was hospitalised on 12 May and died on 14 May. Investigations into the source of her infection indicate exposure to sick and dead poultry.
The second case is a 34-year-old female from Tangerang District, Banten province. She had developed symptoms on 26 May, was hospitalised on 2 June and died the following day. Investigations into the source of her infection are ongoing.
Of the 135 cases confirmed to date in Indonesia, 110 have been fatal.
In its cumulative report, WHO records the total number of human cases of avian flu as 385 of which, 243 have been fatal. So far this year, the figures are 34 cases and 26 deaths. Four other countries have been affected this year - Bangladesh, China, Egypt and Viet Nam.
