Consumers Angry about Chicken 'Raised with Antibiotics'
US - Now that Tyson's 'raised without antibiotics' campaign has been suspended by a federal ruling, consumers in several states have colluded to file a lawsuit against the producer. While a Baltimore federal judge ordered the Springdale, Arkansas-based meat giant to suspend the marketing campaign in April, consumers allege that the product was falsely advertised throughout the marketing campaign and are seeking compensation, reports Meatingplace.
"Purchasers of such falsely advertised chicken products deserve their money back," read a complaint filed by Mary Wilson of Ward, Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.
Along with Ms Wilson's suit, due to be filed today, consumers in California, Illinois, Missouri and Texas joined together to file a similar lawsuit in the US District Court for the District of Maryland in Baltimore. Richard Bennett, the same judge who ordered Tyson to refrain from using the 'Raised Without Antibiotics' marketing campaign, will hear that action.
