Print This Page Egg Output Increased by Six Million
TAJIKISTAN - Sixteen poultry farms have increased egg output by 22 per cent in the first half-year compared to the same period last year.Asia-Plus reports that Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mahmoud Qodirov, has announced how 16 poultry farms produced some 27 million eggs during January-June 2008, which is 6 million more than the same period of 2007.
He added that this level of production covers 25 per cent of the population’s annual requirement for eggs.
The 16 farms have 856,491 poultry - 290,000 more than January-June 2007.
Mr Qodirov also announced that a further four poultry farms will be set up before the end of this year. They will be located in the districts of Vahdat, Jomi and Shahritus as well as in the city of Kulob.
