USPOULTRY Gives $250,000 to Egg Producers
US – The US Poultry & Egg Association recently presented a cheque for $250,000 to the United Egg Producers to help educate California consumers about modern egg production systems before the November ballot initiative that bans most modern layer housing and egg production systems in the state.

The California initiative, officially known as the Treatment of Farm Animals Act, would effectively ban both commercial cage and cage-free production. The initiative is backed by the Humane Society of the United States.
"This financial grant is indicative of USPOULTRY’s continuing support of all phases of the poultry and egg industry," said Jim Brock, Crystal Farms, Chestnut Mountain, Ga., and a member of the board of directors of US Poultry & Egg Association.
"And although the grant is directed at a specific and regional situation, it is a critical issue that has a potentially far-reaching and long-term impact on the entire poultry and egg industry.
"So it is vital that USPOULTRY and the various segments of the industry join in supporting the egg industry in California.
"This is also one more example of USPOULTRY’s financial reinvestment back into the poultry and egg industry," Mr Brock continued. "It reiterates the value and importance of revenue generated by the annual International Poultry Expo that is used to serve the entire industry," he said.
