Print This Page Bird Flu Monitoring Starts in Azerbaijan
AZERBAIJAN - The state veterinary service has announced the start of monitoring for avian influenza.The monitoring on 'avian flu' prevention started yesterday (3 November), according to Today in Azerbaijan.
A spokesman for the State Veterinary Service under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture Yolchu Khanveli, said the monitoring is held in the Absheron peninsula, Devechi, Salyan and Gyzylaghaj reserve of the Lenkoran region.
"Specialists of the Veterinarian Service, Ministry of Ecology, Ministry of Health, Hunters Association of the country are involved in monitoring," noted Mr Khanveli.
He noted that monitoring involves the collection of blood samples from birds of prey and poultry for lab studies.
Mr Khanveli said the results of the monitoring will be released on 14 November.
