Improved Manure Belt for Small Groups, Aviaries

GERMANY - Big Dutchman has come up with a solution to insufficient manure drying for small group and aviary systems.

The company says it is the first supplier to the industry to develop an air duct, based on a series of scientific tests, especially for the new layer management systems which achieves a totally different routing of the air flow over the manure belt.

The result is a significantly improved manure drying situation at lower energy cost, they say. This innovation is on display for the first time at this year's EuroTier.

Small cause, big effect.

"We have optimized the hole geometry and hole pattern in the air duct. The result, however, is a completely new routing of the air flow accurately fitted to the wider manure belt surfaces compared to conventional manure drying systems," explains product manager, Dr Ralf Kosch.

As a result, the manure is optimally dried over the entire width and length of the belt. It dries much faster and emits less ammonia, thus improving the house climate and reducing environmental stress.
