Print This Page Newcastle Disease Reported in Bulgaria
BULGARIA - The veterinary authorities sent an 'immediate notification' to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding an outbreak of Newcastle disease.
The Bulgarian authorities sent the report dated 21 November to OIE, informing them of a single outbreak of Newcastle disease in a small flock of 48 laying birds at Kazacite, Djebel in the province of Kardzhali in the south of the country.
The outbreak started on 12 November: 28 of the hens died and the remainder of the flock was destroyed.
Previously, there had been no outbreaks of Newcastle disease in the country since March 2008.
