Print This Page Low-Path Bird Flu in Taiwan
TAIWAN - The veterinary authorities have reported one new outbreaks of low-pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The report, dated 20 December, is an immediate notification of the outbreak, which started on 12 November in Kao-Hsiung province in the south-west of the country.
The farm had 18,591 birds (type unspecified), of which 520 showed signs of disease and 230 died. In total, 18,361 birds were destroyed within two days. The H5N2 viral sub-type has been confirmed.
The outbreak is considered to be resolved.
