Print This Page One New Case of Bird Flu in Bangladesh
BANGLADESH - The veterinary authorities have reported one new case of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
Follow-up Report No. 12 from Bangladesh is dated 29 January 2009. It reports one new outbreak of HPAI in the country since the previous report dated 22 January.
The outbreak was in a flock of 1200 commerical poultry at a farm at Gujra in Chittagong state. Thirty-five birds were affected, and the remaining birds were destroyed.
The presence of the H5N1 virus sub-type was confirmed.
