Intervet/Schering-Plough Names Poultry Teams

GLOBAL - Following the recent re-organisation in Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health to focus on disease, the company has announced a number of appointments for its Global Poultry Business Unit.

Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health has announced the following appointments for its Global Poultry Business Unit:

Dr Aris Malo

Dr Marcelo Lang has been named director of global marketing for poultry products. Lang held a similar position for Schering-Plough Animal Health and also served as U.S. director of poultry sales. Before joining the company in 1999, he spent 11 years with Pfizer in various poultry marketing and technical positions at the company's US headquarters and in Brazil. He earned his doctor of veterinary medicine degree at the Universidade de Sao Paulo, Brazil. He reports to Ruud Aerdts, who was appointed senior director of the Global Poultry Business Unit in 2008.

Karel Bierman, MSc, a nutritionist, has been appointed global marketing manager for immune-system defense and intestinal health poultry products. He was previously poultry business manager in Benelux for Schering-Plough Animal Health. Mr Bierman joined the company in 2007 after holding technical positions with several feed companies serving the poultry industries of western and Eastern Europe.

Rick van Oort has been named global marketing manager for food safety and respiratory protection products. Van Oort joined Intervet in 2006 as an international product manager. Van Oort is currently heading the international product introduction team for Innovax, a line of recombinant vaccines targeting infectious laryngotracheitis, Marek's disease and Newcastle disease. He was previously a technical advisor for Hendrix Genetics and an account manager for Hendrix Feed.

Dr Rik Koopman has been appointed global technical veterinarian for immune-system defense and food safety products. Koopman has worked in poultry technical service for Intervet since 1998. He received his veterinary degree at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, where he focused on poultry. Earlier in his career, he worked as a veterinarian for a major poultry company in the south of Holland.

Dr Aris Malo has been named global technical veterinarian for intestinal health and respiratory protection products. Fluent in five languages, Dr Malo joined Intervet in 1988 and has been responsible for providing technical support for Latin America, Canada, Spain, Portugal and all German-speaking countries. Earlier in his career, he worked as a production veterinarian for a poultry company in Panama. Malo received his veterinary surgeon degree from the Federal University of Paraná, Curitiba, Brazil, and his doctorate at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Hannover, Germany. He has also been granted the title registered poultry specialist by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht, the Netherlands.

















Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health also announced the following appointments to provide regional sales and marketing support for the Global Poultry Business Unit:


Dr Delair Bolis

Dr Eric Guinebert

Dr Boonchoo Petawan

Dr Delair Bolis has been named regional director for the poultry team in Latin America. He held a similar position with Schering-Plough Animal Health and was widely credited for leading the company's significant growth in poultry sales in that region. Dr Bolis joined Schering-Plough Animal Health in 1998 as poultry technical manager in Brazil and later served as a production animal business unit manager in Portugal. Dr Bolis holds a doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of Santa Maria, Brazil, and an MBA from the University Oeste de Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Dr Eric Guinebert has been tapped to be regional manager for Europe. Dr Guinebert joined Schering-Plough Animal Health in 2006 and served as poultry business manager for the Middle East. Previously, Dr Guinebert was an independent consultant specializing in animal breeding, reproduction, selection and broiler production. He has extensive experience with poultry breeding companies and worked as a veterinary poultry practitioner in France.

Dr Boonchoo Petawan has been appointed a regional manager in Asia. Petawan joined Intervet's team in Thailand in 1998 and held various positions in sales, distribution and business management. Earlier, Dr Petawan worked with Coopers Animal Health and related companies, including Schering-Plough. He earned his master's degree in veterinary science and MBA at Kasetsart University, Thailand.














In addition, Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health announced the appointments of regional technical service veterinarians to provide additional support for the Global Poultry Business Unit:


Dr Von Richard Ebron

Dr Pieter Kühne

Dr Von Richard Ebron has been named technical services manager for Asia. Dr Ebron was previously technical and marketing manager for Intervet in the Philippines, a position held since joining the company in 2001. Earlier in his career, Dr Ebron worked for 8 years for San Miguel Foods, Inc., the Philippines. He earned his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of the Philippines in 1993.

Dr Pieter Kühne will provide global technical support in northern Europe. Kühne joined Intervet in 1999 as a technical manager for poultry vaccines, primarily serving Eastern Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa. He previously worked as a veterinary practitioner for 12 years and, during the same period, spent 7 years as a board member of the Dutch branch of the World Veterinary Poultry Association. Dr Kühne received his veterinary degree from the Utrecht University.
