Print This Page New Case of Bird Flu in Nepal
NEPAL - The veterinary authorities have reported sent a report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) about one new case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
The Nepalese veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 2 dated 20 February to OIE.
It describes one new outbreak of HPAI at Sharamatinamati in Jhapa district of Mechi zone in the far south-east of the country. All 150 birds in the flock are reported to have died.
The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the virus has been confirmed.
