Print This Page Eight More Outbreaks of Bird Flu in Vietnam
VIET NAM - The veterinary authorities have sent a report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) indicating a further eight new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI)
The Vietnamese veterinary authority sent Follow-up Report No. 29 to OIE on 6 March, reporting a further eight outbreaks of HPAI since the previous report dated 22 February.
All the affected farms were in the far north or the south of the country. In total, 4432 birds (type unspecified) were involved, of which 1692 became ill and 1209 died. The remaining 3223 birds were destroyed.
The presence of the H5N1 virus sub-type has been confirmed.
