Compact, cost-effective and easy to use, the TurboTag® system's purpose is to ensure proper temperatures are maintained across the chill chain to optimise product quality, ensure food safety, reduce costly waste and allow for the process to be clearly audited.

Mark Field, Group Technical Director for 2 Sisters Food Group, said, "Our aim at 2 Sisters is to produce the best product at the lowest cost. We believe the TurboTag system could assist us in delivering this and at the same time reduce our waste. We’ve set ourselves some tough targets for energy saving and recycling and the TurboTag system offers a fast, flexible and reusable tool for accurate temperature tracking.

"The main advantage of the TurboTag system is its size and ease of use. Its design makes it ideal for tracking the temperature of fresh and cooked products during the stringent life trials we conduct prior to launching new products."

Mr Field added, "In an environment where those that stand still will be overtaken, we are confident that using the TurboTag system will help us further understand the complexities of the chill chain. To date, it is proving to be an effective and economical method for validating temperature compliance."

Joanne Mitchell, Cold Chain Product Manager of Sealed Air Corporation, notes, "The greater complexity of supply chains today has made it more challenging for processors, distributors and retailers of perishable goods to ensure proper temperature maintenance.

"In developing the TurboTag RFID Monitoring System, our goal was to provide a practical, eco-friendly, out-of-the-box solution to ensure temperature compliance from the processing plant, through transportation processes, to the retailer’s point of sale. We believe the TurboTag system offers significant improvements over existing temperature-logging systems in terms of cost, accuracy, mobility, real-time data capture, speed and ease-of-use."
