Chicken Bronchitis Brings Up Prices

ISRAEL - A plague of bronchitis in chickens has struck the poultry industry, cutting supplies and raising prices as the Passover holiday approaches.

The illness has hit chicken barns in all regions of the country, and the death rate in some flocks is 15 per cent, according to IsraelNationalNews.com.

Routine medicines have not stopped the plague, and scientists have developed a new inoculation that they hope can clip the wings of the disease.

Poultry officials reported that there is no danger of a shortage of chickens for Pesach, but cash-short families will face continuing high prices.
