Print This Page New Case of HPAI in West Bengal
INDIA - The veterinary authorities have sent a new report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding a new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in West Bengal.
The Indian veterinary authority sent Follow up Report No. 11 dated 30 March to the OIE.
The report covers one outbreak of HPAI at Chopra in the Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal. The infection started on 17 March in a backyard flock of 363 poultry, all of which died.
The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the HPAI virus has been confirmed.
