Print This Page France Plans National Research Consortium
FRANCE - French farm and fisheries minister, Michel Barnier, and research minister, Valerie Pecresse, have announced a plan to create a national research consortium to manage the country's food, farming and animal health research programmes. The bodies involved are international development and agronomy agency CIRAD; national agronomy institute INRA; as well as the four campuses of Montpellier SupAgro, Toulouse national veterinary school, AgroCampus Ouest and AgroParisTech.
Describing the future consortium as a "public scientific cooperation establishment" {EPCS), the ministers repeated their commitment to better communication and co-ordination of research programmes.
"To have a coherent research programme, it is vital to break down the walls between the different actors and improve the co-ordination of our research system," Pecresse explained.
